When you’re beginning the divorce process, one of the most important steps you can take is to surround yourself with the right people, both personally and professionally. The advice you receive during this time can significantly impact your future. Every piece of bad guidance you find online or get from a well intentioned friend, family member, or co-worker can lead you to make decisions that don’t align with your true goals.
That’s why it’s so important to assemble your own Divorce Squad, a trusted team of professionals who understand your priorities, listen to your goals, and help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
When I went through my own divorce, I didn’t have a roadmap. I was stressed, overwhelmed, and searching Google for professionals to help me, but I ended up working with people who weren’t the right fit. I didn’t yet know how essential it was to have a network of experienced divorce professionals who could guide me through each stage.
That experience inspired me to create Divorce Squad®, a place where women can find trusted professionals who are experienced, compassionate, and ready to support you, no matter where you are in your divorce journey.
Putting together your divorce team doesn’t have to happen all at once. You can begin with just one or two professionals and build your team as you go. Everyone’s situation is unique; what matters most is starting with the professional who feels right for your current needs.
If you’re already seeing a therapist, they would be a wonderful first person to talk to. Some common first calls women make when starting the divorce process:
There’s no wrong order to this process. Start where you feel most comfortable, and add professionals as new needs arise.
As your divorce unfolds, new needs will come up, some major, others more routine. You might need help updating insurance policies, refinancing your home, or changing your estate plan. Your Divorce Squad will evolve with you through each step of the process, and even after the divorce is finalized.
I learned this lesson the hard way: I didn’t contact an estate planner for years after my divorce, and my ex-husband remained listed as my health care proxy! (Don’t make that mistake!)
Your Divorce Squad will continue to support you as you rebuild and grow. You might even call on the same real estate agent again later when you’re ready for a fresh start or a bigger home.
Divorce can feel isolating, but you are not alone. The right professionals can help you make smart, informed decisions with confidence.
Divorce Squad® is here to connect you with experienced experts, attorneys, mediators, financial advisors, real estate professionals, wellness coaches, and more, all who will help you navigate every stage of your divorce and beyond.
You deserve support, guidance, and a team that helps you create the next chapter of your life with strength and peace of mind.
